Why is my Turnitin Assignment showing as "Read Only" and "Expired"?
Answer
When you create a Turnitin assignment for the first time in a Moodle course, a Turnitin class is also created for that course on the Turnitin database. This class has a default end date which is typically six months from the creation date, or it is set to the date of the latest post-date for the Turnitin assignment in the class. Once the end date is reached, the class becomes “expired,” which means any submissions in the class are read-only.
How do I fix this issue
You can take the following steps to extend the class end date so the class becomes active once more:
- Login to Moodle.
- Navigate to the relevant Moodle course.
- Open the relevant Turnitin assignment in the course
- Edit the Post Date to a date in the future. This will cause the class end date to be extended so the class becomes active again.
**In rare circumstances, the Course end date for your Moodle course may be set to a date that has passed. You can check this date by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner of your main course page, and selecting Edit settings. Uncheck the box to the right of the Course end date to remove it, or set the date to a future time after the end of the current semester.
